When it comes to keeping your teeth clean, we’re sure you know that it’s important to brush yours twice a day. But did you know that dogs need their teeth cleaned too?
That’s right, it’s actually just as important for dogs to keep their teeth clean as it is for you and your friends.
Without clean teeth, dogs get smelly breath, their teeth can turn yellow and start to rot away. And if a dog’s teeth are rotten then how can they eat their food or play games like tug of war?
We don’t recommend that you try and brush your dog’s teeth; that’s the job of a responsible adult. But here are some easy ways to keep your dog’s mouth healthy:
Natural dog chews
Chewing is great for dogs’ teeth and gums and you don’t need to look far for healthy snack for your dog to get their teeth around. Carrots are a core part of Zara DogDog’s meals and she even enjoys one as an evening snack. These natural chews keep her teeth clean and keep her body healthy.
Dental chew toys
If you’re thinking of buying your dog a new toy or present, why not give it a dental chew toy? Something that the dog will enjoy chewing and playing with and can also keeping its teeth clean. Win, win!
Dog toothpaste
Can you believe that there is such a thing as dog toothpaste and dog toothbrushes? You can get all sorts of flavoured toothpastes including “meat flavour” (yuck!) and dogs love it. A responsible adult can be in charge of using a dog toothbrush and toothpaste to clean your pet’s teeth. They may not like the idea at first so an adult should get the dog used to having its mouth opened and touched from a young age so that they don’t complain too much when it comes to teeth cleaning time.
